The most anticipated movies of 2017

There is no denying that 2017 has been an incredible year on the big screen so far. Despite the success of Wonder Woman, perhaps the biggest movie of 2017, along with other movies such as Logan, starring Hugh Jackman, the year does not seem to be slowing down, with many other movies being expected to rock theatres and provide a very competitive playing field for the 2017-2018 award season. Here are just a few of the most anticipated movies of 2017:

Logan Lucky

Set to be released on the 18th of August, this comedy features a star-studded cast that includes Channing Tatum, Daniel Craig, Adam Driver, Hillary Swank and Katie Holmes. Packed a healthy dose of comedy and drama, this movie is once retired director, Steven Soderbergh’s best yet. That is, of course, according to the man himself and his cast.

The first Kingsman movie shocked everyone by the amount of success it managed to garner when it was released in 2014. Now, the sequel aims to replicate said success with cutthroat action and next level entertainment. It is set to be released on September 22.

Stephen King has proven that he’s a multi-talented powerhouse, with his work earning him an estimated $400 million. Pennywise is one of his most prominent and captivating characters ever to grace the big screen and many cannot wait for the September 8th release of this movie.

Lego Ninjago Pic

With the Emoji Movie turning out to be a critical bust, there is a lot of pressure for animators to step up their game and deliver better quality entertainment. On September 22, viewers will get a chance to watch the Lego Ninjago Movie and figure out for themselves, if it puts the failure of its animated rival to bed. Olivia Munn, Dave Franco and Jackie Chan are just a few of the talent voicing characters in the movie.

Perhaps one of the biggest horror movie franchises, the “Saw” films have built a solid fan base over the past few years. This latest instalment comes with a twist in the form of greater focus on Jigsaw, the main villain and it will be released on the 27th of October.

Justice League

As mentioned before, Wonder Woman enjoyed an enormous amount of success at the box office and DC Films is looking to carry that success over to its next film, Justice League. The usual suspects will return to play Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman and joining them will be the likes of Jason Momoa, whose portrayal of Aquaman has many wondering if it will live up to expectations, especially since the film character looks nothing like comic book versions of Aquaman. Fans will have to wait until November 17 to find out.

Thor Ragnarok Pic

Thor has been noticeably absent in the past couple of movies made by Marvel but, he is set to make a big return on November 3 with Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston reprising their respective roles of Thor and Loki.

Carrying on with Hollywood’s love affair with reboots, this film stars the successful and hilarious duo of Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson who are looking to replicate the success of their 2016 box office hit Central Intelligence. It is set to be released on December 20th.
